19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children together, so to win a title is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his ability to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an improved service.

He came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He rescued four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
